eat us out of house and home
Wow, we are going through so many groceries, both my DDs eat a lot of fruit, sweet potatoes and broccoli. I try to do organic fruit mostly and try not to do canned stuff. My 3 1/2 yo also eats a lot of cheese, peanut butter, bread (I make it usually), pasta and olive oil, yogurt, eggs, I try to buy the healthier versions of all these and I shop every 2 weeks and by the second week we have really low supplies of 'kid food' and usually end up having to go back out which isn't great for my grocery budget. I am happy I have healthy kids and good eaters but what can I add to their diets that is kid friendly and healthy and will go a little farther for my grocery budget?
My older one will eat crackers and cucumber slices but not bean dip or hummus or carrot sticks (she'll only eat carrots cooked). BUT, she loves cream cheese so I think I will try your white bean and cream cheese idea. The baby likes beans but they constipate her really bad. I eat a lot of hummus though, I wish I could get them eating it.
